Unveiling the statue of Ignac Semmelweis, the saviour of mothers in Queen Mary Medical School London
The board of HMA-UK were at Queen Mary University of London and Embassy of Hungary in London at an event commemorating the 204th anniversary of the birth of Dr Ignac Semmelweis, a 19th century Hungarian obstetrician responsible for identifying the cause of puerperal fever, pioneering antiseptic procedures and the subsequent significant reduction of mortality at midwives’ wards. At the event representatives from the University and Embassy unveiled the first Semmelweis statute in a UK Medical school.
